The only thing that i consider somewhat capable of catching this error, is cmake showing the user how to fix it. Or fixing it on it's own.

i assumed i can git clone a module to modules and its worked for me so far lol

Quite honestly, I don't see the big issue with someone popping in here every week/two weeks or so asking about it. It takes literally a sentence or a link to correct their path. It's not a big deal
