It's not but it would require more effort than simply removing the requirement of the dist.

I wouldn't mind either way, my configs are updated automatically by my script anyway so they could just as well run queries on the database. I'm not going to try to implement such a system though, not to mention I don't think it would even be accepted anyway.

I also just realized the support that would have to be given. TrinityCore, MaNGOS etc have config files. If AzerothCore were to break the standard, oh god the questions here "Where can I change settings?!"
