Quote:To tell you in a nutshell, Blizzard has tried to nerf Model Editing once again. They don't seem to be banning for it yet, but they have updated their Scan.dll program with a fix of sorts. (not Warden).

DEMONKUNGA'S FIX
Read the thread for more information from me about what these 2 files do. (technically they don't do anything themselves, they just fix our little problem [Image: smile.png])
If you don't trust me, that's your own fault.

Alright guys, check this out.

I have a fix.

Download this http://www.filedropper.com/emptyreadonlyscanfiles

Extract it to your WoW folder

Replace and overwrite the 1 or 2 files already in your folder

And ta-da, there you go!

If you run into any problems, please let me know and I'll work something out.

Hello.

There is Model Editing nerf recently, as we all know, and it sucks.

Some of us are trying to find a solution, and others are deleting ours posts.

So here i have another ways how to do bypass that.

1) EXECUTER

This program runs WoW for you and disables scan, and disables all steps with scan: Read scan, Scan computer, Save scan.

I don't absolutely know how it does it, but it works, just put MCPTR.exe to Your WoW folder.

Download here:

RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

VirusTotal.com scan:

Virustotal. MD5: 3d379a972bbe064be9ff3bcd7a84c8f2

2) WOW READ, NOT WRITE

Another way is to let WoW read scan and scan Your computer, but not save new scan (scan.dll.new).

Simply delete scan.dll (and scan.dll.new if it's there) from Your folder.

Open Notepad, save blank page as scan.txt . Rename file and name it scan.dll.

Copy this file you just made, and name it scan.dll.new .

Now that important part: right click on these files, properties (or what it is in your windows) and check Only for Reading, so nothing can rewrite these.

Or You can just simply download them here:

RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

VirusTotal.com scan:

Virustotal. MD5: ac0cef9c879862dad8ade217e962d50f

3) EXECUTOR DELETING SCAN.DLL

This time we will run wow through executor which deletes your scan.dll, and then runs wow.

But wow than scan your computer, so next time you need to run it trough this executor as well, or delete scan.dll by hand.

So open your Notepad, write in this:

del Scan.dll

wow.exe (or wowme.exe if you want to run wow by ModelEditFix and not get detected)

save as WoW.bat. run it, and it will load up your wow (or WoWme.exe) without any problems.

Or simply download here:

RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

VirusTotal.com scan:

Virustotal. MD5: af386313ade783c30337a62166f26b13

I hope this will help somebody...

(i dont understand that reputation system, why I am logged in as guess? can you rep me or not? its strange, I dont wanna be leacher...)

Yeah, we all know that the sticky is supposed to be read. I did. Everyone also know that moderation action will be taken against people who don't follow that sticky. I know that too.

However, I thought it would be important and helpful to list to people a way to keep the scan.dll file from coming back. On my computer at least, every time I delete it, WoW tries to reinstall the file. So, to combat that, you can do this easy thing, which will make it so that Blizzard doesn't reinstall the scan.dll file.

Delete both scan.dll and scan.dll.new from your World of Warcraft folder. From here on, be hasty, as we don't want to have it come back. Next, go to notepad. Save your blank file in the World of Warcraft folder and name it "Scan.dll" without quotes. Using this, you should be able to prevent the scan.dll file from running, as well as keep it from fixing itself.

Comments and critisism are appreciated, so long as they are not "zomg u no listen 2 demunkoongah, u gon get teh banstick".

Quote: I just have to clear some things out. Is the "Scan.dll.new"-file dangerous or bad in anyway? Or is it just the "Scan.dll". Becouse preventing the "Scan.dll.new"-file can't be done with Notepad, right?

Quote: Since the other thread was closed and whatnot, I do have a question. Those who have model edits not using WowME..are they being detected at this time? Or is the scan just going after the main program itself?

Quote:Just the WoWME program is being detected right now.

Either by program hash or because it boots WoW.

Probably just by program hash.

Then again, Warden isn't detecting it, Scan.dll is. And Scan.dll is just a warming dll then notices certain bad programs you are running when you start WoW and it notifies you as a little warning to tell you to shut off the program or you may be banned.
