No. If it has nothing to show, i.e the target url isn't set properly or is just plain wrong - it won't show anything because the webserver isn't telling the client that there *is* something to show.

it's not from the client, change to warmane, that message appears on all clients when you connect to warmane, I downloaded another client from another server and when you connect to ep warmane, that message appears, so it's not from the client, it's from the server, something

What I mean is that either the URL set is wrong, not pointing to where the Alert file is or the file isn't even there, named properly or it has a file ending that it shouldn't have or the content of that file isn't formatted correctly. I know it doesn't show the box if there's nothing read that it can print. I know because I have managed the breaking news myself.

The webserver it points to sends the data to the client, the game server doesn't do that - at least not without heavy client modification.

The Warmane client I'm almost 100% sure is not anywhere near clean and has the LUA update to change the breaking news URL.
