In this case, is there a standard automated method for moving accounts and characters, or it needs to be done manually?

A squash is basically where any updates are merged into the base tables and then those updates are archived. World is easy, just drop the tables and let it repopulate. Auth and characters I would guess you look at updates since it was last updated and apply any archived updates manually but any new updates can be handled by the server. If it's only a year there shouldn't be too many updates for those.

Since I don't want to take risks, I will be looking into copying the acc/chars into a fresh base.
