[DiscordArchive] um, i have a question, do the config files need to be in the same folder as the .exe of azerothcore?

To clarify, it doesn't use the file *instead* of the `.conf.dist`, it uses variables in the `.conf` to *override* variables defined in the `.conf.dist`. So in your `.conf` file, you can simply override a few variables instead of having to copy the entire of the `.conf.dist` file.

reminds me of the rathena (ragnarok online) emulator with its import folder (it had the same idea for the config files)

It's handy because you can copy over variables into the `.conf`, strip away the comments around them, and just have a lean set of overrides without all the bulky comments. You can easily share that file too, allowing someone to easily replicate your server (provided use of modules aligns too.)

u can do that but it doesnt help much u realistically need script which will update values for u bcs when there is update u are not going to compare commits and handpick what changed and place it into ur config

Not really, like he said you don't have to have every variable in that `.conf`, so if some get added, you can stick with the default value as set in the `.dist`
