Is the MySQL server running? You should start the repack by running "play.bat", which should open three windows - first a black CMD window for the MySQL server, then the blue logo window for the auth server, then the red logo for the worldserver.

trying to type anything or even resize the windows closes it with no error

Please try starting it without typing "start" - this will run it in the cmd window without opening a new window, so you will still be able to see what it prints after it exits.

It looks like the MySQL database is not running. The repack should run by clicking play.bat, not the worldserver directly. play.bat will open MySQL and both servers.
