I have a pretty hefty question regarding updating an older server. If this isn't the best place to ask, feel free to let me know.

I haven't contributed any code in over two years. Trying to resurrect the local server I was running but it's years behind (from Nov 2020). I tried updating it directly but the database is very obviously incompatible. I've gone back through major updates to try and apply specific commits but it's hard to determine where those are. Any recommendations on how best to update that two year old dev server?

Usually a good way to find the commits you have to use is by going to the archive folder in Github and looking at the commits there

So you'd checkout the commit before each of these ones to have all of the SQL where it's supposed to be, and then continue to the next, then to the next

I would recommend backing up your DBs before doing any of that though

And you would recompile and run the server after the checkout

Golden. I'm building this all from a restored backup so I'm good there. Didn't think to use the archive folder to identify commits. Thank you.

Recompiling after each commit is what I'm getting the bulk of errors on. But I'm likely not pulling the correct commits. I'll check archive for each db and let you know where I get.
