if im not playing on the same machine that i install the server on - but my ip is public
can i keep the 127.0.0.1?
since its the localhost and will likely redirect to my public ip?

You would change an IP, but it's in the auth database, not in the conf files

<@203326888888893440> to populate the databases it tells me to start the server and i tried by doing ./worldserver but it tells me it cant find worldserver.conf.dist after i renamed it to .conf only
do i need to change that part too?

What you're supposed to do is copy the .dist and rename the copied one to .conf and make your changes there
