I still would've assumed they'd nerf the formulas for old content before the new expansion hits, not specific creatures.

did they ever do that? in wotlk i know they had the raid wide buffs to nerf a raid when a n ew tier existed

When the patch just before wotlk was released they nerfed all tbc content.

I don't remember specifically but they might've done the same for vanilla content when the tbc prepatch hit

Like patch 3.x was released shortly before the expansion actually released and that patch included nerfs, I mean.
