also its good to have test server somewhere where u keep it up to date with production and first try update there if something goes wrong u dont have to troubleshoot it live

Updating the server like normal, grabbing the latest commit from github, the possible errors causing the server to break are frankly infrequent enough to not require a second server to guard from those.

If it was a public server with a large playerbase, then yes - some form of PTR is good to stay safe. In other cases I say it’s usually a waste.

If you're using a separate server perhaps you don't want to install all those applications and set everything up to have a dev environment for just that reason. That's why I'm calling it a waste.

Not to mention the fact that you can compile the core without killing the processes, which would help in many situations.
