It turned out it was because I named my test user admin, apparently. Once I created a user with a different name, it let me in just fine.

`make -j $(nproc)` compiles the code while `make install` copies the compiled binaries to the appropriate folders

You're not telling it at all how many cores to use, of course it's going to be limited
