I feel that having a short line telling players what core is being used is so cheap when compared to the fact that you get access to the source code of a core that is updated regularly. Sounds a little stupid, I know.

The same as many open source projects, remove the credit message is technically not a license breach but is considered very disrespectful to maintainers, so you will not see support when doing this.
