I don't get the logic of working on something you don't have access to seeing as most things require either conf or db access.

Happy to explain. The realm I'm working on is a dying realm with a small population. We'll be replacing it with an alpha based on a more refined concept, but we're about a month or two away from the release.
So I'm trying to do what I can to make the old realm interesting, but I only have access to GM commands. If I absolutely need it, I can press for DB and config access.

You're really locked out if you don't have access to anything other than GM commands. You can't change C++ script, you can't alter the db - the config files aren't as important in your case - which is really required to change what you want to change.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I'm not gonna be able to change the C++ script, as the workflow for this server is basically gone, but I can get DB access and config access for sure

Would DB access allow enough control over these kinds of things? I'm still quite new and using this as an opportunity to learn these systems in real time

Access to the database would give you control over so many things that you may want to improve etc.
