That doesn't actually send the gossip menu itself though, for the functionality I'm trying to have at least.

Correct, it sends the gossip text entry, which is then queried by the client, server sends text for the queried id back to the client and it gets cached

So intercepting the message and relying on string literals instead of database entries is probably not going to work?

sure it will, you just need to hook the text query opcode and return your own text based on whatever criteria you want to specify

Won't the messages overlap if not tediously verified though? Since the client saves messages by the gossip text entry?

I guess it doesn't matter since only one gossip window can be open at once

no idea, try it might not request the text again after it has been cached, but you could always just send arbitrary text entries ♂️
