Just joined 4 days ago, went through all the guides and setup and got a server up and running AWS hosted in Oregon. Only doing this for educational purposes and for my guild to explore what classes they want to play in WOTLK on live. Any thoughts on the risk of being US hosted?

It would only become a concern if it was a really popular server. I mean really popular, with thousands and thousands of players and a lot of money coming in, where it would be worth it for Blizzard to act on it. I know there are servers hosted in the US, some even mention that the server is hosted for educational purposes and is somewhat popular but has never been told to stop. My point is that you don't have to worry about it.
