Performance is a lot better with mariabd, and I always like to throw the fact that Google switched from mysql to mariadb in peoples faces when they think mysql is superior.

It doesn't matter what edition you're using, the performance is still better with mariadb - not to mention it's more lightweight

I absolutly agree but sometimes higher power not let you choose what customer uses or bought

You could also run worldserver.exe from cmd to keep the console on after it shuts down

You can also run the worldserver using command prompt or terminal and it won't close itself
