Unless I'm wrong, I think it's core changes to support the new client as if it were an old client

Yeah, that's part of what I meant - not sure how much of the core would have to change, and if those were changes added to the actual core or if it would only be a separate repo. It would be cool if something like that was merged into the the official AC repo when that time comes, not that I would use it.

I mean I wouldn't use it simply because I am gonna end up delaying converting my module to work with the client for a long time because I'm lazy

You wouldn't be forced to change your modules to support that client, honestly. I just never liked the changes they made, take for example shamans chain lightning. I find the effect to be trash in the classic client. They ruined the experience, for me. I'm sure a lot of people like it, but eh.

Yeah, but a simple note saying that if people want to use your module - they cannot use the new client. That's up to them to deal with.
