to me it depends on how close the application needs to live to metal, and for something like wow where 99% of people won't notice the difference between 50ms and 100ms of latency i wouldn't hesitate to use docker or K8s if the pipeline was there to support it

Over the years working in iT; I don't know anyone who uses docker containers. It's just not worth the effort of learning it when the performance is equal with LXC.

A lot just want the ability to run multiple applications in one container rather than 1 container per application. That's really my point.

ah yeah that's where kubernetes comes into play, a pod is a set of containers that are addressed and managed as a single unit, so if you want like a stack with mysql, apache, redis, and php, you can define it in one place but have them scale independently

Yeah, don't get me wrong - it's a very solid system. I'm just never, ever going to learn it because it gives me no benefit.
