But if you're installing mariadb via the website, why not just use that when you're compiling AC instead of messing with different versions?

All the packages for AC is there in 11 and there's only 1 that doesn't share the exact name. I know when I was using 10 I had to mess around to get the right cmake version etc. There were small issues, but I do prefer debian over any other distro every day of the week

the lib versions were different to what i needed, i got no clue how/why cos everything works perfectly otherwise
