Well, the worldserver is supposed to automatically apply what it founds in the sql subdirectory (from the core AND the modules) at launch. So you would not have to manually apply the SQL. However, for modules SQL, authserver will execute the SQL at EACH launch, since it will not be registered as an "applied" update to the core. That's not much of a concern, but it can create unnecessary logs btw. That's why I also apply modules SQL manually, and get rid of the SQL part of my modules or the modules I use.
