I tried to get it working but no joy. I couldn't get it to do a simple print command... The HTTP server fires up fine and talks to soap... but the LUA seems non functional.

You don't need python to make it all work: you can scrape the site directly in Lua.
I've done something similar for transmogrification: you put in your link and it transmog your item to the right place
