You don't want players to be able to spam-query your database. It's better to have a cache of data.
You can use eluna queries to read the data into a container variable/table and display it on request.

I was looking at this, and perhaps an easier approach would be to statically store the data into mysql then reference it by entryId to get a price? I think it would prove to scale better and result in faster user experience. We talked to the good people at WoWAuctions through a private api key to get our data for the mod-auctionator, but I can share this repo if you end up wanting to process item prices in the background to mysql.
