Spent one year, finally developed and deployed a blizzard like, multi realm, production ready WOW server group on AWS Cloud. Would like to share the architecture I used.
- This project uses "Serverless, Pay as you go" technology as much as possible, so the cost will grow linearly along with the player traffic.
- Most sub-systems are automatically scaled along with the traffic, fault tolerant and highly available.
- In addition, it comes with CI/CD and automated server updates, blue / green deployment, server / database backup and restore, Log analytics, server metrics dashboard visualization to provide better efficiency and visibility.
- At the last, the server is protected by AI driven WAF firewall, preventing offensive traffic and DDOS attack.
I knew that the missing piece is the anti-cheat. However, I developed this just for my self and friends and just for fun, but not for financial income. Due to my personal skill limitation, I don't know how to handle that.
