I see I'm a little late to the party but this isn't possible with DBC edits (alone) because when you log onto one toon, that toon can't see the items of the other toons on your account. So either you cache using addons (client-side) or you sync the number of items to be the same through either a secondary table or through a query on item_instance for all guids on the same account on login, shifting the total count of items from whichever character has them all at last logout to whichever logs in next.

If you'd like the currency tab to show each character on the account through any one given character you'd need both DBC edits (or clever AIO/addon UI edits shifting the frame elements around and adding new ones for additional account characters) and either addon or packet communication telling the client the item counts of the other characters ont he same account
