I'll keep messing with SetAI and see if I can override the SAI entry in the DB when the boss spawns them. so far I haven't succeeded in convincing the game that the SAI should be ignored.

I have to figure out that and how to make a spline path repeat. totally normal, easy stuff.
everything I try to fix i have to learn two more systems in this game. there is no "easy".
