But if you edit it, you'll still need to put it back in the client alongside putting it to the data/dbc folder

hmm i don't seem to have one of those folders, maybe the docker acore wrapper is doing some magic for me there, im a little shy of modding that with my current lack of experience

Well, if you ever don't have any data folder, your worldserver would just not start ! I've never used docker so I'm not able to tell you where it's located in your container, but I can assure you have a data folder somewhere (:
