There are some really poor design choices, and no clear line between what should and shouldn't be exposed, that is the main issue. Some things just aren't a script or a module, but should be actual core modifications (read patches). There's no need to port content from one system to another, that is just a waste of resources. But ideally you'd have a dedicated scripting language that is more friendly for novice and intermediate users without resorting to literal Scratch

I think we already have that scripting language. Many just refuse to accept it as a proper tool. For personal or no reasons at all. Hell knows why.
