Thanks! If I was to try to help figure out fixes, could I in theory, sniff the content in question from wotlk classic and try to work through it?

Right, cata will be out in August right? Are they progressing from wotlk or will there be new servers for cata?

No announced date for Cata yet. Pre-patch for Cata is beginning tomorrow, and back in 2010 that only lasted a bit over a month. They will not be maintaining servers for Wrath, they will progress the existing servers to Cata
