It doesn't even set creatures without waypoints as active. It's blizzlike, more or less. I've never heard anyone who has been camping time-lost complain about having to chase him - they just wait in one spot until he roams past them.

How is wandering guards, with no players around, functional? Sure it might be how it works on blizzard servers, but I am going to assume that they have a tiny bit better hardware to work with, and code-wise has this built totally different. While it wouldn't require a beast of a computer to run, it is in fact performance heavey and is not recommended - you dont have to take my word for it, ask anyone who has some idea, either here or on TC discord.

Not sure what you mean by this, but time-lost proto drake is an example of where it does indeed make sense to use set active.

I'm not going to take your word for it simply because I tried running full preload + active with 2 cores and it didn't even use them fully. (and didn't lag at all)

That is not what I would call performance heavy *at all*

AC is wotlk so we are talking wotlk which means we are talking 2008 hardware so no blizz dont have better hardware

As far as code goes, yes they're using very different code but we don't know what it looks like - back in 2008 it could've been worse optimized than what we have in AC for all we know.

(worse optimized in certain parts, that is)

i dont see it having worse performance but what they definitely got more of was stability

It probably wasn't worse in performance but it's impossible to say for sure since we don't have access to it. That's my point. And if < 70% of 2 cores is "performance heavy", I'm sorry but get off your potato right now
