But tbh I don't see too much reason why it wouldn't, it's something Blizz servers supported, something the client (may) support, plus lots of servers make use of patches (even formerly official AC modules use patches)

As far as I understand we indeed do. Patch files are signed and client would either need to ignore or accept invalid signature
But that's not something I want to solve, because hacking the client would legally be not so nice.
Or atleast not solve here. I don't know if telling people how to patch it would be fine, or providing a patcher, but I assume we rather shouldn't

if u want to provide such feature u should also provide solution for issues that comes from removing certain signatures
