Cata was sorta a not so plan logistical nightmare. In fact there is alot of dilution that happened in the 335 db and cata db because someone mass parsed into a master db with no back up. But the issue didnt become apparrent til a few months later

Really is the lack of a actual clean database is what wrecked that expansion in the wow emu scene

Other emulators such as skyfire did a clean database but it wasnt completed or parse. Fun fact. Skyfire did cata first before tc did

Essentially it's manual work and a lot of times memory that people use when working on the cata expansion, for example?

Sadly, there are some decent cata cores (very few) but that obviously doesn't mean it's clean code and not to mention the obvious - it's always closed source.

I'm just thinking that if those sources were open, it would advance the wow emu scene quite a bit.

Example? Well the cata preservation project. Nice on the source. But alot of issues with the database. Trainers, phases being missing, smart scripts all jacked from a dilution incident

Alot believe it or not uses tc 335 and just evolved it internally from there.
