sooooo Droopi has some partially working changes for this already so most of the 2nd half has been figured out but just wanting to know which direction to finish it, I want to submit this and ask where I should post it (as a bug report? and then pull a fix onto it? that's my only thought so far)
also if anything isn't clear its just a rough draft lmk I'd like it to be coherent when I post it so people aren't asking questions
