Issue here is really password reuse in the event your db is popped though.
Credential stuffing attacks are no joke, I've been in orgs throwing massive amounts of money towards mitigation of them.

Yeah no doubt, and I fully understand most organizations and companies doing so, blizzard included.
What I meant was in regard of private servers.
Has there really ever been anything like that happening?
I've never heard of it and can't find anything about it anywhere.
Usually it's misplaced trust or just stupidity from whoever is managing it.
But can't be too safe either, it definitely doesn't hurt.
