I've been looking at item guid's quite a bit in the db in the past days and i noticed that even on brand new cores/dbs with only one or 2 characters generated and no items ever deleted, there are often item guids skipped. pretty much every 2nd.
i wonder if it is intended or just a sideeffect?

from some quick tests i can tell that armor/weapons created skip a guid. the `Magically Wrapped Gift` https://wotlkdb.com/?item=41426 is applied on the next free guid instead, see 12->13 and 25->26 above

setup a fresh core, setup a fresh db.
create a toon. `.level 79` log out
create another toon. `.level 79` log out
check the db.
every 2nd guid is used. the Magically Wrapped Gift does not skip one.

the 54212 isn't a wearable item either. i suspect there are different functions to determine the guid of the to-be-created item for different kinds of items?

Only happens for the wearable items that the player spawns with from what I can tell
