lemme know when you figure this out, ive been trying to fix this on my end for a while, probably have to use some manual sql fiddling which id rather not do

Making the icon appear client side?
you have to edit Item.dbc and add an entry that matches the properties of your item in item_template, and both must use the same ID. Then you pack the dbc into an mpq patch and put it in the wow client data folder
