So I just had this problem. I'm using Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) so everything should work fine. I had to tweak the scripts a little to reframe my OS as Debian 12. I still couldn't get the mysql stuff working though: the mysql dependency it wants isn't available and kept recommending me a mariadb alternative? But that also didn't have the types. What actually fixed it for me was enabling source-code repositories in my settings.
