localAddress field won't affect whether or not your friend can connect. That is just for you to connect. You're editing the actual data and not the table definition, right?

it should be somewhere in your routers admin panel, the place you'd go to to open ports

Depends on the routers, but majority tend to show your Public IP and the Router's Local IP (gateway)
