it wouldn't have been bugged at all. you simply made the decision to skip it. But the npc at the gong should still be there. you can still finish the quest line.

any idea on what I could do to prevent that? maybe rename the dummy quest so it's not called Bang a Gong? hm.

IF you don't want to break the fourth wall for imemrsion sake, you could just rename it like "Force the gong to yield" and put something like "IT's not the way Anachronos intended for the seal to be broken, but a mighty enough adventurer could simply force the gong to open the barrier with a simalrily powerful tool."
