Yes, it only saves at an interval but if your client crashes or you alt-f4 (or click the X) your character still remains in the world for a certain amount of time before the server logs it out and saves it.

sometimes. if it hits that interval while ur still in the game but not in the client

I can be moving, spawn in a bunch of times, add a bunch of spells to me, kill the client and boot it back up and I am where I was when I killed it with everything else I did

The server logs you out and saves you, it doesn't just reject you and roll you back
