all of this has me questioning how my setup is working. my realm table only has the fqdn and 127.0.0.1 on local. so all my data is going out and coming back in

Ok minor progress on this secondary issue, i was asked to check my Linux firewall configuration so I installed a gui tool because I'd never really looked at it before

It didn't really tell me it had changed any configuration but it appears it did because I can open up the ports to tcp pings from laptop A again

speaking of firewalls, have you checked outbound rules on the clients if those ports are allowed outbound?

Not yet, though I did double check that wow.exe was cleared for outbound connections

Ok, interesting, though they run the same OS, laptop A has the network listed as public while laptop B has it listed as private
