As Rymercyble said, docker provides you with the option of moving the server to a different system/OS with ease should you ever have to. If you do it like me and just use linux without docker, then that means transferring the server to a new system or OS gets a bit messy if you don't have the workflow for it setup in a way that facilitates something like that.
