I haven't been happy with the direction of windows for a long time.

Is there a particular Linux distribution that you would recommend?

If you aren't familiar with linux then you might just run into more issues than you are now. If you're most comfortable with windows and trying to get this all working, I'd recommend just using windows. If you *really* wanted to go the linux route, ubuntu is more beginner friendly and well supported online. I use fedora for both my client and server pc's but there is no guide for setting up azerothcore on fedora and it requires extra dependencies and might give you a harder time.
Docker isn't bad, I just know nothing about it and since I know how to set everything up via command line on linux, docker seems like extra overhead to someone like me.

Thanks for the insight! If I go full Linux I’ll start with Ubuntu and just make peace with learning as I go. I don't want to limit myself to support resources here and if Linux is the better option and I just need to learn it, then that's probably the route I will go. You seem to be responsive and helpful so I can always try reaching out to you here so long as that's not annoying. I'd like to think I'm not a complete idiot, so I would exhaust all of my own resources instead of asking you to hold my hand through the process.

depends what u want to achieve but i think long term docker makes more sense if anything happens to ur pc or u reinstall it or u want to move to different hardware u will need to do exactly nothing

Ok, thanks for this. I don’t need to clutter my db with a bunch of waypoints and can just do it in my time walking quest class
