I'm trying to connect to my server (on my desktop) from my laptop at a cafe and it's looping between realm selection and logging in, it doesn't get to character select. Do I need to change a setting in the server to open it up to anyone besides localhost/127.0.0.1?

I'm using tailscale as my tunnel, if that matters.

Database ports only need to be available to the auth/worldserver, which in the vast majority of cases are on the same system so should not be opened up

Something is blocking the auth database from being reached, typically ive found this to be due to incorrect firewall settings. Thats what he needs to look at, you still need to play around with those even if both the auth/world server are on the same machine.

At a glance, it looks to me like the authserver is being reached just fine, but the handoff to the worldserver is failing, possibly a bad address set in the realmlist table is my suspect (at least iirc)

I'm able to connect fine from the desktop, I just get this loop on the laptop.

Desktop being from inside your network, laptop being outside your network? If so, my suspect remains the same
