but in any case, thank you guys for the input. I was very encouraged initially by how beginner-directed the docs for AC seemed, but it looks like I might need to potentially look into other technologies to build my ambition

emulator is not engine its just server if u want to build custom maps etc that has barely anything to do with emulator
