I understand by default character pets wont let you loot if they kill a creature without , character interaction. I think it's called 'kill credit'. I'd like to find where this information is held, and if I'm able to change it so that i can loot a creature that a pet killed.

I have not seen any logs directory settings in the installion instructions so I am assuming I do not have the directory set. I am literally going through the installation instructions line by line, verbatim.

theres also db connection settings in there, if those are wrong itll crash without populating the tables

That won't get you anywhere. If you haven't changed LogsDir in worldserver.conf the log files will be placed in the same directory as worldserver
