Dumb question, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. Can I change the expansion from 2 to 1 (and set max to 70) and expect everything to be fine? I want to experience TBC raiding with my wife without leveling out of it. Then switch it back to 2 when ready to progress again.

Don't know if this helps but how I intend to do it is play until 60, lock my exp and do all vanilla content, play till 70 and then lock exp and do all tbc content and move on like that.

Ohh I see. So instead of locking the expansion, you just lock the max level to 60/70/80? I suppose that's a safe solution, thanks.

So, I took the bullet and set expansion to 1 and max level to 70. Everything appears normal for now, we're both under level 40 atm, but I was worried our players would be altered in some fashion. Mainly our heirloom gear, but it's all still good.
