why does it seem like there are less mods being developed now compared to before? do people prefer just hard coding stuff or am i missing something here

well I'm assuming the date stamped under the 'mod' is the date of it's initial release and not it's latest update, and if that's true then there are less projects starting in the past 2-3 years compared to 6 years ago. but then again a lot of those old stuff seem to be maintained to some degree which means in reality the amount of usable mods has steady growth. I just want to make sure because I know when you fall behind of what's 'meta' then there are less people to help and less tools that are usable.
