The benefits are that you're not facing the problem you see now.

Being able to start fresh without asking yourself how to get all the stuff back that already worked before is just avoidable that way.

How do you change things in your database? Keira?

So, I was using Keira to create some items and I was using Warcraft spell editor to make spells or adjust existing ones, and then the other changes I made were through module config files, and all of those seemed to work individually. But, eventually I needed to make a change to things that can't be accessed with those or at least I don't know how to, so I used Heidi to make edits to certain things and that's when I started seeing the issue of not being able to go back to what it was prior. So, for example, I changed the spawn location of every class and race combination to be in dollaran because that's just something I plan to do for my server. But then it bricked the death knight because it removes you from the entire DK starting zone questline and even using GM commands to fly back out there it won't reinitialize the starting quest line and you can't train the spells death gate and runeforging. So, I ended up ruining the death knight class because you can't complete their storyline or get the spells without completing their storyline unless I added a script to also do that which is now the new plan. But, there were other things I changed that I wanted to revert back to their original settings using Heidi that I couldn't figure out what the original settings were because I had overwritten them to make my changes obviously. So, I guess the main issue I have is that all of the changes I made in Heidi I would like to unmake and I thought I could do this by just reinstalling the azeroth core and doing a new build, but that didn't seem to work. Which is why, now I'm wanting to just do a fresh start. But if you have any advice or understanding for why it would have prevented me from doing what I wanted in the first place, that would also be great to know.

Also, I am super sorry for the lengthy response and for any typos that are a part of it. I am using speech to text because it is a lot better on my wrist and that can introduce some issues. Plus whenever I am talking aloud I get more rambly.

> the issue of not being able to go back to what it was prior
This is the nature of a SQL db. It's unavoidable. There's only one way to fix it. Always be prepared to start fresh. Have ALL the code you ran successfully and save it to files.

Let's say you use Heidi to create and run a query. Save that query to a file and run it afterwords.
When you need your world db reset because you've done something wrong, drop the world db using Heidi DB. Let the worldserver re-create the DB and only then re-run you proven working SQL scripts again.

Or move those custom scripts to the `custom` folder, so the server will run the automatically

What does running a query do? At this point, I have only done any changes directly from the data tab.

The moment you run a query, you're exectuing whatever is in that query or sql file.
