quick question between two commands, not sure which one to use to go back before recent commits from this week
git revert <SHA-1>
will undoing changes in a specific commit (but will keep these commits in history)
git reset --hard <SHA-1>
will revert back to a state where these commits are not yet applied ?

Yes, revert basically makes a commit undone, the reset hard sets your state to that point in time in the past
